Which American Women’s Writer Character Are You?
We’ve read many books this semester: Gone Girl, The Awakening, Their Eyes Were Watching God, and A Raisin in the Sun. All these books had interesting characters; some we grew to love and others we grew to question. Which one are you most like?

Amy Dunne
Amy Dunne
You're smart, pretty, and someone could probably write a children's book about you. All you want in life is to be happy, have a loving husband who knows you aren't a "Cool girl" and ... control everything he does and thinks. You tend to have a need to control others and will do a series of crazy things to do so. Another trait of Amy you have is that you're a perfectionist. Everything has to be planned without fault and carefully thought out. You could plan out the most amazing trip to New York (or a murder). You also feel the need to get even with people. When someone wrongs you the thought of him or her getting the last word burns inside of you. Just because you're most like Amy doesn't mean you're a psychopath...but if you were you'd be a darn good one!

Like Edna you are openly rebellious to society’s standards. If society says “No” you say, “Yes”! You are a very independent person and you like to accomplish your own hopes and dreams rather than the ones others give you. Like a child you are able to see the world with a fresh perspective. You also tend to be childish as you sometimes have unrealistic dreams and believe your actions won’t have consequences. Some see you as an independent woman to look up to and others might see you as a child who doesn’t completely understand how life is supposed to be. Yet, you don’t what others think and will continue to pursue your life the way you want to. (Hopefully you won’t go in the same direction as Edna).

I’m not gonna lie, you sometimes seem to be a little sketchy. You don’t mean to be but it just comes off that way. You sometimes make it seem like the world is out to get you and would not be the most reliable perspective to look into to. You sometimes try to lie to get out of things but then have to continue to lie to keep up the first lie. A little truth may not be so bad sometimes. The main reason you lie is because you are a people pleaser. You want others to strive to be like you and to only be seen in a good light by them. You might make questionable decisions sometimes, but you do it all in good intentions (for the most part). Just remember that you can’t please everyone and it’s okay to have a few flaws out in the open (unless you are married to someone like Amy. If you are, then run! Run far away from here!).

There will be many love interests in your life but you will always be the star of your own story. You don’t strive to find love but to find yourself and achieve a sort of oneness with the world. You are independent but you’re also happy with being dependent on someone else because you love the idea of two people coming together in harmony. You don’t back down when expressing yourself and will definitely let people know when you don’t like something (Whether it be telling them with sass or shooting them with a rifle; to each their own!)
Beneatha
Beneatha
You’re young, independent, and a feminist at heart! You are very ambitious and will not let others squander on your dreams (No matter how impossible they may seem to others). Yet, you sometimes suffer with an identity crisis. You don’t care that others may doubt what you want to do, but you do care that others may criticize who you are. It’s sometimes hard for you to be the person you want to be rather than the person others want you to be. Don’t be afraid to get criticism for being different! Once you break out of this shell you will be a very theatrical person who wants to deeply connect with their inner self (like Beneatha did with her African dancing). Advice: When you accomplish your dreams and become the person you want to be, don’t forget about the little people who helped you get there!
