The Ten Things Most 90's Kids Miss!

If you were growing up in the 90's then you may remember, and likely even miss, many or all of the following ten things. Get comfy and transport yourself to the time that held everything from Vanilla Ice to The Phantom Menace! (ahem... not that you, necessarily, miss those things.)

Super Mario World / Super Nintendo

While there were many game consoles from the Genesis to the Playstation in the 90's, it was the Super Nintendo that really stood out. It just had some kind of magic. While some may argue the N64 is a better choice, I think the SNES is the one that we miss the most.

Pogs

Pogs and slammers were the school-yard currency of an era. I remember even the movie Apollo 13 had a special Apollo Space Shuttle pog carrier. Whether you liked the 8 Balls, the poisons, the yin-yangs, the Simpsons, or the original "POG"s, it was always fun to grab your favorite slammer and flip some stacks!

3

Goosebumps Books

I remember having "Drop Everything And Read" in school and these were always the books I would pick. From "Welcome to Dead House" to the choose your own adventure series "Give Yourself Goosebumps", they were always a lot of fun. They were never truly scary, but they were great "spooky adventure" books for a young audience. I even enjoyed the TV Show!

4

Floppy Disks

Floppy Disks, with a "k" because it is a shortened form of "diskette". These things held important documents, could store precious save games, and (most importantly) held computer games you could install. I remember installing DOOM for the first time, and Warcraft: Orcs & Humans... these amazing little disks were treasures of the 90's.

5

P.B. Crisps

Crispy cookie outside with a sweet peanut butter inside! These snacks were, to use the appropriate vernacular, da bomb. It is a shame they were discontinued, but the 90's crowd will always remember these fantastic snacks.

6

Cassette Tapes

Whether they contained your favorite artist album, or was your favorite mix-tape, these astounding little rectangles of plastic were the source of your 90's life soundtrack. Even after CDs became widely used, many held fast to their old trusty cassettes. Later they would be used as adapters for your CD player, so you could listen to CDs in the car without buying a new radio.

7

Lisa Frank Trapper Keepers

Really Lisa Frank folders, binders, trapper keepers, pencil cases, spiral notebooks, and anything else they plastered the artwork all over. With everything from cuddly seals and dolpins to adorable pegasus and unicorns, it was hard not to find one you would like. The best was when you could get matching art across your whole set!

8

DUNKAROOs

What 90's kid could say no to cookies that came with little tubs of frosting? These things likely had enough sugar to feed all the ant colonies in your city, but darned if they weren't delicious! They also had that cute cartoon kangaroo mascot.

9

Fridays With TGIF

It's Friday night and the mood is right. Gonna have some fun. Show you how it's done, TGIF... this was the TV block that pretty much everyone watched (at least) some part of. For some it may have been "Family Matters", while others might have been more into "Step By Step"... ABC captured a part of your 90's night life.

10

SNICK Saturdays

What could be better than TGIF? SNICK Saturdays. With shows like "Clarissa Explains It All", "The Ren & Stimpy Show", and "Are You Afraid of the Dark", this was the best lineup on the younger crowds Saturday night television. Are You Afraid even had future-stars like Ryan Gosling, Jay Baruchel, Neve Cambell, and Jewel Staite appearing in various episodes.
