6 Bad Examples of Packaging Design that Affect Your Business
Packaging design is an art in itself. It needs proper time, dedication and full concentration for designers to come up with a masterpiece that can grab attention from potential buyers within a minute. But some brands or companies completely ignore packaging design. They believe their product quality is much more important than the packaging. But that’s just not right. But even the worst of design can be a huge learning experience for brands and companies. The packaging of your product reflects your brand the same way your employees do. Take this next line as an example to what we are trying to tell you; You'd never want to send in the most underrated, uneducated and poorly dressed employee to meet and greet the most important client. Similarly, your product communicates with your product. If your product is well designed with a beautiful and eye-catchy packaging, it will attract customers and speak wonders for your brand.
But some brands take the slow road in learning the importance of packaging design. These brands are the epitome of bad packaging design and provide us with the knowledge of how a poorly packed design can affect your business and be a great loss.
Anyone for Some Fresh Yogurt Made with BatMilk
This is a great example of a bad packing. The first thing you conceive of looking at this product is that it's made out of bat milk. But wait no! This yogurt is not made out of bat milk but this Brazilian brand Batavo created a fusion of two words by combining a Portuguese word, "batter", with the English word, "milk" hence creating the word, "BatMilk." But no one would want to have BatMilk, would they?
2. Who in the World Would Like to Have Some Grandma Flavor
There's everything wrong with this packaging design. While the fonts of this jam bottle might seem weird and confusing, they went way ahead by putting up the wrongs words on the bottle. No one in this world would like to go for some "Grandma" flavor, for sure. This is a pure example of how you can go wrong with words and why it's very important to pay full attention to the fonts and typography.
3. Irish Spring
Something seems off about this packaging. This product has been added to the bad packaging design example because of its outdated design, the use of mediocre typography and graphics. The background color and the image of clover leaves doesn’t go well because of their almost same color.
4. Parrot: Young Coconut Juice
This is another example of a wrong color choice. Remember when we say pay extra attention to the colors when it comes to packaging design. Here's how you can go wrong. The color of this can is bothersome to eyes. And to add to it, the design of the parrot and coconut looks mediocre and outdated.
5. Be A Girl? Lady? Man? Boss? What Do You Mean Bic?
Here's another big fail or shall we call it 'Bic' fail from one of the world's renowned brand. This packaging fail one of the best examples of how not to wish women's day. Bic decided to wish women all around the world by selecting the worst possible quote ever.
We're not so sure what message Bic is trying to give to its consumers. As the message conveys that women should look like girls and think like men? Well you should get the idea by now how well it did with their female consumers and the feminazis.
6. How Does One Open This?
Hers another example of how a pack of scissors is poorly packed. No! There's nothing wrong with the design and typography but the who would buy these pair of scissors when all they need is another pair of scissors to open the pack. That doesn’t make much sense. The brand should make an easy pack for scissors for making it handy to use.
So, always keep in mind while designing packaging for your product that the packaging design is as important as the product itself. It is the only first thing that attracts consumers to your product and helps them make the buying decision. Be smart and create beautiful and sensible designs. There are many companies that offer custom packaging California and Chicago.
