Ranking The Magical Elements From 'The Vampire Diaries' And 'The Originals'

Elena's necklace was not only the first talisman we were introduced to, but it's forever a classic. For seasons, it kept Elena from being compelled by vampires, only to later have it revealed — in an epic twist — that the necklace first belonged to Esther Mikaelson, the Original witch. Plus, it's pretty and stuff.

Let's get right to the point: The White Oak Stake is bada--. Not only is it the "only" weapon that can kill an Original vampire, but when Esther uses Alaric's ring to make the stake indestructible, it finally looks at powerful as it is. Now THAT is a weapon worthy of battle.

For 'Vampire Diaries' fans, the only word they've heard as often as "doppelganger" is "moonstone," and it's all thanks to season 2's sun and moon curse. The moonstone not only held the key to breaking Klaus' hybrid curse, but it also looked like a bar of soap, which led to some memorable shenanigans, mostly in Damon's bathroom, which is always a fun place to be.

It's a knife that buries itself within the chest of its victim and torments said victim until it's surgically removed. I mean, come on. That's pretty cool.

They might not sound exciting, but daylight and moonlight rings are essential to any vampire/werewolf/hybrid. Not only are they a great accessory — and for some, a discussion-starter — but they're a necessity, and for that, they get credit.

Freya's necklace is A) Pretty, and B) so awesome that it's currently housing the spirit of Finn Mikaelson. Yep, an Original sibling is just chillin' inside that necklace. Talk about power. (Also, sucks to be Finn... always.)

In terms of looks, the serratura is less impressive than others. I mean, it's a medallion, and it's not even shiny. But it does have the power to trap all the Originals forever and ever. So that's impressive.

The Phoenix Stone is shinier than most, but its size makes it incredibly easy to lose. However, it gets props for trapping vampire souls and torturing them (and also for giving us Damon Salvatore in uniform).

One of the more elaborate mystical items on 'The Vampire Diaries,' this creation is the key to getting out of a witchy prison world. But it loses points for how easily it breaks.

Not only is it bigger than a Kardashian engagement ring, but it's key in the creation of dark objects (a.k.a. all those dangerous things that Cami's family kept around).

It's really, really old and really, really ugly, but also really, really powerful?

It gets points for being made of human bone, because that's creepy, but sadly, we don't see much from this talisman.
