A train bombing in Russia has killed at least twelve people and injured 50 more in what is tentatively being called a terrorist attack. A man was seen placing an briefcase in one car of the train before leaving for another car. The briefcase, which contained a nail bomb, exploded moments later.
The attack coincided with Vladimir Putin's visit to his home city of St. Petersburg. When asked about the attack, Putin, who reportedly wanted to visit the site of the attack but was prevented from doing so by his security team, gave this statement:
I have already spoken to the head of our special services, they are working to ascertain the cause of the blasts. The causes are not clear, it's too early. We will look at all possible causes, terrorism as well as common crime.

While some witnesses have reported a second blast, only one has been confirmed by police, and a second bomb at another train station was defused shortly after. Primarily, however, most bystanders and victims report, above all, the chilling carnage of the attack.
We saw that the next car was teared apart, windows were broken, no lights, blood. People were dragged out of it, some were carried, some were walking with support.
