In Aveyron, there's a tiny, weirdly shaped little house that is actually the oldest house in all of France. I mean, sure there are old castles, but this ancient hovel has managed to hang in there with the best of 'em since the 13TH CENTURY!!!!!

Well, that's because in the olden days, houses were taxed per square meter on just the ground floor. So whatever committed and brave craftsman assembled this cottage got out of a lot of taxes...
