A Petition Is Calling For Melania And Barron Trump To Move To D.C. Or Pay For Security Themselves

When Donald Trump was elected president, his wife Melania made the decision to stay with their 10-year-old son Barron in Trump Tower in New York City so that he could finish out the school year before transferring to D.C. in hopes of easing the transition for him.

However, this attempt at placating Barron is currently costing taxpayers an estimated $146,000 per day while they reside at Trump Tower, and during any visits to Trump Tower, Donald Trump is estimated to raise that number to $308,000. This means that since Trump's inauguration, Melania and Barron have cost American citizens over $9.9 million.

In response, a Change.org petition has now received over 92,000 signatures in protest. If it reaches 150,000, it will be brought before Congress by Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
