A two-time cancer survivor, Scharn has now been cancer-free for two years, and it's taken his mother, Teresa Howell, this long to find the perfect three-legged fit for their family, closely monitoring animal shelter websites for a tripod his son could call his own. Finally, she saw a video of Logan, a three-legged pit bull on the Sacramento Front Street Animal Shelter's website on March 2.
I saw the video of Logan on the shelter's page, and the next day I picked Scharn up early from school and drove to Sacramento as fast as possible.

But when they got there, another family had already called to reserve Logan. Fortunately, after a long wait, the other family cancelled, and Logan was all Quinn's. According to Howell, Logan is already part of the family and she can already see him changing Quinn's life for the better.
Scharn was so tough going through treatment, and a lot of it was a front. Seeing him with Logan, I can just tell all the other stuff is melting away.
