Free State of Jones (June 24)

Free State of Jones is an action-drama set during the Civil War and tells the story of a Southern farmer, Newt Knight, and his rebellion against the Confederacy.

The movie is based on the true story of how Knight launched an uprising that led Jones County, Mississippi to secede from the Confederacy, creating a Free State of Jones.

The movie was directed by four-time Oscar nominated Gary Ross, and filmed in parts of Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

The cast stars, Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey, Keri Russell Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Mahershala Ali and will be in theaters June 24.

Bad Moms (July 29)

Filmed in New Orleans, this new comedy comes from the writers of The Hangover, and tells the story of an over-worked mom, Amy, exhausted to the point where she is fed up. She teams up with two other stressed moms to free themselves of their conventional responsibilities and go wild for some long over-due freedom and outrageous fun.

Bad Moms stars Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Annie Mumolo, Jada Pinkett- Smith and Christina Applegate and is set to hit theaters July 29.

When the Bough Breaks (Sept. 9)

John and Laura Taylor are a couple who desperately want to have a baby. After exploring all of their options, they finally seek the help of Anna, who they feel is the perfect woman to be their surrogate. However, things take a turn for the worst when she becomes dangerously obsessed with the husband.

The couple then becomes tied up in Anna’s psychotic games and must find a way to get back their control. The film, shot in New Orleans, stars Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall and Jaz Sinclair.

The suspenseful movie is scheduled to hit theaters Sept. 9.

The Magnificent Seven (Sept. 23)

In this remake of the 1960 western film, a small town is put under the siege of an industrialist and his accomplices. Seven brave outlaws step up to the plate to fight against them and protect the town and its townspeople.

Shot in the Capitol City and parts of Winnfield, the film stars Oscar-winning Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D'Onofrio, Byung-Hun Lee and Peter Sarsgaard.

Sept. 23 is the set release date for the movie.

Deepwater Horizon (Sept. 30)

On Apr. 20, 2010, the largest man-made disaster happened on the Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. The film honors the brave men and women who saved many on board at the time of the disaster.

The film, shot in New Orleans, is directed by Peter Berg who brought audiences the story of Lone Survivor. Deepwater Horizon features Academy Award nominee Mark Wahlberg, Golden Globe nominee Kurt Russell, Academy Award nominee John Malkovich, Golden Globe winner Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien and Academy Award nominee Kate Hudson.

The movie is set to be in theaters on Sept. 30.

Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (Oct. 21)

In the prequel to the 2012 movie, Jack Reacher returns to the headquarters of his old unit to find out that he is now accused of a murder. The action-thriller was short throughout New Orleans and set to hit theaters Oct. 21.

Tom Cruise returns to the film, with the company of Cobie Smulders, Robert Knepper, Aldis Hodge, Patrick Heusinger and Holt McCallany.
