Vitamins are the support and necessary nutrients for our body. But unfortunately, not all people can take vitamin therapy via oral pills. The conditions of the digestive tract are individual, and in a number of cases, they simply won’t digest. For such people, the only way of taking them is by injection.
Vitamins can be injected either in an intramuscular or intravenous way. The best option is to get this procedure done by a specialist. But you can do it at home as well, of course, if you know what and how to inject.

Which Vitamins?
Vitamin therapy is a part of treatment for numerous diseases. Very often, the doctor appoints several vitamins at once. This often concerns the B group. It is also a crucial support for people with the special menu needs, like vegans of professional athletes.

Some medications are not compatible with the oral intake of vitamins. In addition, it’s not an option after surgery on the digestive tract. But vitamin injections are also a popular therapy method for beauty and wellness treatment.
Here is a list of vitamins that commonly get injected:

  • All the vitamins of B group
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin E
  • Vitamin K
  • Vitamin PP

All these vitamins can be taken both orally and as injections. The vitamins of the B group are better to take through injections. The D, F, H and P vitamins are taken orally or as ointments and cannot be injected.

How to Make the Injections Yourself
Intramuscular injections are safer and more convenient to do yourself. Usually, the preparation is injected into the buttocks but this place is very hard to reach yourself. At home, it’s better to inject into the upper part of the hip. Take care of proper disinfection before and after the injections and let all the air out of the syringe before you do it.
Intravenous injections require more attention and very strict hygiene. In theory, any vein in the human body can be injected. But not all of them can be clearly seen and easy to reach. Most often, vitamins are shot into the inner elbow, upper arm, or wrist veins because of their good visibility.

To make a vitamin IV shot, you will have to choose the vein, put a tourniquet tightly above it to fill it with blood. Clench and unclench your fist to be sure the vein is filled. Disinfect the shot site and inject the needle, directing it up the vein. One-third of the needle must be inside. You must feel the emptiness with your syringe. Untie your tourniquet, unclench the fist and inject slowly.

As you finish, put a disinfecting tool on the place of shot and only then pull the needle out. Bend your arm and stay like this for several minutes. As you can see, it’s not an easy task to do it yourself. Therefore, if you need intravenous vitamin shots, it’s best to seek the help of a professional.
