7 Things to Remember About Unstoppable

The heroic Unstoppable skill is one of the most powerful healing abilities in the game. It lets someone in full armour heal themselves in a handful of seconds, and it's one of very few abilities that you can use while you are dying. At the same time, though, there are some restrictions on how and when it can be used. It's very important to read the skill description (and worth taking a look at the FAQ about it). So how do you use this complex, powerful heroic ability?

Heroic healing takes time and roleplaying

Unstoppable takes five seconds to use, and requires you to engage in appropriate roleplaying. How you roleplay is up to you - this is a great opportunity for some over-the-top heroic hamming it up! Loudly exclaiming that you feel no pain, calling on the virtues, visibly catching your breath, or the ever popular roar of renewed vigour are all good ways to indicate you're using this ability. You can't make any sort of attack while using this ability to heal yourself or the attempt is wasted - and if you're on 0 hits, you can't do anything except focus on using Unstoppable. You don't waste the hero point but you do have to begin the roleplaying again and you don't get any hits back.

Unstoppable can also give you a second wind

We used to have a skill called "Second Wind" but we incorporated that effect into Unstoppable. If you have the Unstoppable skill you can spend a hero point, and five seconds of appropriate roleplaying, to recover 3 hits. You get the hits back at the end of the roleplaying. It's pretty straightforward, and so the rest of this list focuses on the second power Unstoppable provides - the ability to recover from dying.

3

You have to use unstoppable immediately if you're dying

Unstoppable is one of the very few abilities a character can use when they drop to 0 hits and start dying. However, you have to use it *immediately* after you are reduced to 0 hits if you want to use it at all - and if you decide not to use it straight away you can't use it later on. it's also worth remembering that if you are on 0 hits you fall over - you can't start using unstoppable to recover from dying until you're actually on the floor dying!

4

When you're dying it has to be obvious you're using Unstoppable

As already mentioned, it takes five seconds of roleplaying to use unstoppable. If you use the ability while you're dying however it also *must* be obvious to everyone within 10 feet that you are about to get back up again. In this case, the ability *cannot* be used secretly!

5

Unstoppable isn't interrupted by being hit

As the FAQ points out, you get your 3 hits back *after* the 5 seconds of appropriate roleplaying. If you're using the skill when you are on zero hits then you will be left with 3 hits at the end of the roleplaying, regardless of any damage taken during that time. Remember though that you're still on 0 hits while using this ability and can't do anything other than concentrate on activating your healing ability.

6

You can't be executed while using Unstoppable

Execution is a specific action that cuts your death count short and kills you. It can only be used on dying characters. If you're using unstoppable, you do not count as dying and you can't be executed.

7

Sometimes you can't use Unstoppable

Both WEAKNESS AND PARALYSE stop you from using any skills or abilities, so you can't use Unstoppable while you're under either effect. Paralyse only lasts ten seconds, but because you have to use unstoppable IMMEDIATELY that you drop to zero hits, this means you can't use unstoppable at all if you are suffering either effect when you start dying. Worse, if you are hit with PARALYSE or WEAKNESS during your roleplaying, the attempt to use the skill is interrupted and you can't use unstoppable to recover at all. The only good news is that if this happens you don't lose the hero point!

8

Unstoppable only restores hits

Powerful as unstoppable may be, it *only* restores global hits. It won't restore a limb that has been ruined by a CLEAVE or IMPALE, and it won't remove VENOM. Additional medical attention is needed to deal with these problems.
