Pros and Cons of Four Wheel Suitcases
Pros and Cons of Four Wheel Suitcases
Travelling encompasses a good portion of a person’s life. The need for traveling can be due to work or simply for getting a break from the monotony of life. Before setting out on your trip you must plan your trip wisely and pack your luggage accordingly. You need to carry some luggage irrespective of the type or duration of your trip. A suitcase can serve this purpose very well.
Suitcases, the old and new
While backpacks can be useful in case of mini trips, a suitcase is necessary for a long vacation trip. Earlier suitcases were very heavy and sturdy and had no wheels. A suitcase without wheels is beyond imagination for people of the current generation. Modern suitcases got wheels, among other improvements. While making a little sacrifice with regard to protection, modern suitcases are quite lighter in comparison too. Overall, its security and functionality have been significantly overhauled.
Classification based on wheels
While shopping suitcases, you will find them with either two-wheel or four-wheel suitcases. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages. The advantages being:
• Free movement- This is the main advantage of this type of suitcase. The ones with two wheels can move forward and backward only since they are lodged slightly into the suitcase. On the other hand, the four wheels are always placed outside making it mobile for a 360-degree rotation.
• Less weight on the shoulder- Usually, the two-wheeled ones are pulled at an inclination making it a burden for the shoulders. The weight of the four-wheeled ones totally rests on the wheels itself as they are dragged vertically. Hence, you will face far less difficult to move with your luggage.
• Well balanced load distribution- Not only can you carry heavier luggage with the four-wheel suitcase, but also the weight distribution is equally spread over the wheels. It is unlike the two-wheeled ones which might topple over due to lack of sufficient balance.
• More than one suitcase- In case you have more than one suitcase, it is better to get four-wheeled ones. This is because it will be easy for you to maneuverer with the bags and also keep them in front of you to maintain visibility. Two-wheeled ones are usually pulled at the side and hence difficult for one person to manage more than one.
With advantages come the disadvantages. Here are a few of the disadvantages of four-wheel suitcases:
• Prone to damage- This is probably its main disadvantage. Since the wheels lie outside the casing, it is more exposed to physical damage. This means that the bag is not fit to be carried over uneven territory. To reduce the chance of breakage, never compromise on the quality of the suitcase.
• Rolls away- The free movement of the suitcase may turn out to be a nightmare for you if you get distracted. If left on a sloping surface or an accidental push, it can easily roll far away before it stops. Thus, suitcases with 4 wheels should be placed in a horizontal orientation, with wheels not in contact with the floor, when you wish to keep it stationary.
Conclusion- Suitcases are an absolute must for trips of long duration. You have the option of getting one with either two or four wheels. Let this guide help you with your choice of a suitcase.
