Terminator

Arnold Schwarzenegger was great as an unfeeling robot in the original Terminator — but just imagine Nic Cage as the murderous machine.

2

The Godfather

Cage's uncle directed The Godfather in 1972, but the title role in a remake would have to go to Nic himself. He's got the Italian background, he's got the fiery temper — he's even had the moustache at certain points of his career.

3

The Silence of the Lambs

Anthony Hopkins received widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in Silence of the Lambs — but no one does crazy like Cage. Few other actors working today would be quite as believable as a cannibal maniac.

4

Forrest Gump

Tom Hanks may be more of an everyman than Nic Cage, but tell me that you wouldn't want a version of Forrest Gump starring the latter.

5

The Lord of the Rings

Nic Cage has rarely ventured into the fantasy genre, but there would have been countless roles for him in Lord of the Rings. Legolas is probably the best shout, but anything from Gimli to Gollum would have worked.

6

Back to the Future

No one wants a remake of Back to the Future, but it's almost certainly going to happen. How do you make it entertaining? Cast Cage as both Marty AND Doc Brown.

7

The Shining

Jack Nicholson's performance in The Shining is iconic — but wouldn't Nic Cage's face peering through that broken door be even more terrifying than the original?
