There are some movies that gain cult status and remain unforgettable. Hera Pheri, starring the three Musketeers Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty and Paresh Rawal, is surely a cult film. Since its release in 2000, the film continues to remain one of the best comedy films of all time in Bollywood. All the three characters of Baburao Ganpatrao played by Paresh Rawal, Shyam played by Sunil Shetty and Raju played by Akshay Kumar have become immortalized for the sheer acting skills of the three performers.

The storyline of the film is pretty simple; Baburao is an aged garage owner who rents his house to two young men. Raju is a cunning man who hasn’t paid the rent for a good two years. Shyam has recently come to the city of Mumbai looking for a job after the death of his father. He goes job hunting in the same bank that his father worked in but finds that the position has been filled by a woman named Anuradha (Tabu).

The trio are in dire need of money in some form or the other and this is when a case of wrong number occurs; a cross-connection between the house of Baburao and a wealthy family where a kidnapping has occurred. Hera Pheri is one of those rare films which manage to infuse comedy but at the same time makes you feel sympathy for the characters because of their situation.
This article lists some of the funniest and famous dialogues from this Priyadarshan film;

  • ‘’ Yeh Baburao Ka Style Hai’’ – Baburao’s iconic dialogue that is popular and an absolute fan-favourite.

  • ‘’Meri Kundli Mein Khoon Likha Hai…Maloom Hai Na?’’ – One of Raju’s dialogues that became the routine phrase of every angry individual across the country.

  • ‘’ Shyam: Ji Mera Naam Shyam Hai.

                Baburao: Aaah Toh Yeh Tumhari Samasya Hai… Toh Naam Badal Dalo
               Usme Gaon Se Idhar Ane Ki Kya Zarurat Hai’’- When Baburao and Shyam met for the first time.

  • ‘’ Baburao: Jyada Much Much Kiya To raat me Ramlal Ke Saath Sona Padhega.

                 Shyam: Yeh Ramlal Kon Hai Re
                 Baburao: Gali Ka Kutta’’- That is what happens when you tick off Baburao.

Hera Pheri actually is a remake of the film Ramji Rao Speaking, which is a 1989 Malayalam movie directed by Siddique-Lal. Hera Pheri also has a sequel called Phir Hera Pheri that came out in 2006. A two and half hourlong laugh riot, this movie never gets old no matter how many times you watch it.
