Juan Trevino, 14, was at a summer camp in Sierra Madre, Mexico. He went to get water, but slipped and fell down a ravine. Injured, alone, and lost, Juan was worried no one would ever find him. And then, a hero appeared.

Max, who had made friends with Juan earlier in the summer, saw the boy fall and followed him dutifully down the ravine. He stayed with Juan. When Juan couldn't find his way back to camp, Max cuddled Juan all night as they slept under a tree. The next day, Max found them a puddle to drink from.
This is one pooch who is seriously deserving of some love.

Juan was rescued, and Max too. He told everyone just how essential Max was to his survival, and even the local cops agreed. Juan wanted to adopt Max, but he already had a home, and the community was happy having a hero living nearby!
