Running A Marathon
Running A Marathon
Okay, let's just take a second to talk about training for a marathon. If you're already passionate about running, that's great. And if you're not passionate about running, but you'd like to give it a try, that's great, too. Running can be a great form of exercise that the vast majority of people have access to for free, but not everyone is built to be a runner. Not everyone has the capacity to gain a passion for running. And that is okay. If you're new to running, try setting a lower goal than a marathon. Even a half-marathon can be something most people will be able to work up to. But if you find in the midst of your running journey that you hate it, drop it. Try yoga or weightlifting or kickboxing instead! There are so many other ways to exercise that you might actually enjoy. Do yourself a favor, and don't limit yourself to committing to a marathon this year. Will you skip this New Years Resolution for 2018? Don't get us wrong. Learning a new language is an admirable goal. You can open yourself up to new travel opportunities, job opportunities, and cultural opportunities when you learn a new language. But for the love of all that is good, don't just try to learn a new language for the hell of it. Never Saying No To New Opportunities
Okay. So, first of all, opening yourself up to new opportunities is a great and admirable and brave thing to do that can deeply enrich your existence. BUT for many people, a resolution to never say "no" will leave them less enriched and more bogged down with the responsibilities of all of the people around them in their daily life to the point that when the really cool new opportunities do finally come around, they'll accidentally miss them because they've already overcommitted. Do yourself a favor, and reserve your right to take care of yourself this New Years instead. Will you skip this New Years Resolution for 2018?
