After eight days stranded on an island with no emergency supplies, two people were finally rescued after a US Navy aircraft spotted their large SOS scrawled in the sand.

Linus and Sabina Jack, a couple in their fifties, disappeared last week in Micronesia, and rescue teams had been searching for them for a week when their message was finally spotted.

The waters were too shallow to reach them initially, so they ended up having to wait an extra day to be rescued, but both have now returned safely home.
