1. Childhood

Michelle: Born and raised in Chicago's often-dangerous South Side, her father was a Democratic precinct captain and her a mother worked as a secretary. The close-knit family did everything together, from playing games to sharing meals.

Melania: Born in Slovenia and then raised in Communist Yugoslavia, her father was a car dealer and her mother was a clothing designer. The family lived in a Communist-style concrete tower block apartment.

2. Education

Michelle: Cum Laude graduate of Princeton University, followed by Harvard Law School.

Melania: Attended University of Ljubljana for one year before dropping out to pursue a career in modeling.

3. Work Experience

Michelle: Post-law school, she worked at the Chicago law firm, Sidley Austin, in the areas of marketing and intellectual property. She later became a Chicago city administrator and a community-outreach worker before devoting a large chunk of her time to her husband's presidential campaign.

Melania: After her year at college, she modeled all over Europe before eventually moving to New York in 1996. She would then begin landing magazine covers and working with renowned photographers such as Helmut Newton and Patrick Demarchelier. She even posed nude in January 2000 for a spread in GQ magazine. (You guessed it—she's the first First Lady with nude photos published of her.)

4. Meeting Her Husband

Michelle: While working her first job post-law school at a law firm in Chicago, she was asked to mentor a summer associate named Barack Obama. (Yep, she was his boss!) After denying a few of his requests to go on a date in an attempt to avoid mixing business with pleasure, she finally accepted.

Melania: After spotting Melania from across the room at a Fashion Week party, Donald attempted to ask for her number, but to no avail—because Melania had heard that he was a ladies' man. He then sent his date that he attended that same party with to the bathroom to ask Melania for her digits on Donald's behalf, but to no avail once again. Finally, Melania told Donald that she would take his number instead, and she called him a few days later.

5. Talking About Her Husband

Michelle: Talking to Jimmy Fallon: "When people ask me whether being in the White House has changed my husband, I can honestly say that when it comes to his character, and his convictions, and his heart, Barack Obama is still the same man I fell in love with all those years ago... I love my husband even more than I did four years ago...I love that he's never forgotten how he started.”

Melania: Not only did she allegedly "beg" her husband to "act more presidential" during his controversial campaign, but she also had to go on CNN and defend her husband's comments in the wake of the Billy Bush audio leak incident. In a later interview, however, she did mention: "Those words, they were offensive to me and they were inappropriate." Can't blame a girl for sticking by her man though, right?

6. Parenting

Michelle: Her daughters may live in world's most renowned residence, but that doesn't mean their roles in their household have changed. For the duration of their 8 years in the White House, the Obama girls were required by their parents to pitch in just like anyone else, from making their beds everyday to doing their own laundry.

Melania: Proudly referring to her 10 year old son Barron as a "Little Donald" due to his strong and opinionated personality, her son is allowed to make his own decisions on many things. He has even been given the opportunity to fire his own nannies and housekeepers when he sees fit.

7. Relationship With Her City

Michelle: The city of Chicago is quite fond of her—in fact, a mural of Michelle is planned to be painted on the side of an elementary school in her native South Side of Chicago as someone for the kids to look up to. The artist, Chris Devins, is known for working to promote positive examples for children in the South Side.

Melania: After it was announced that Melania plans to finish out her son's school year living in Manhattan, which would cost NYC taxpayers an estimated $1 million a day, New Yorkers went ballistic. So much so that there is currently a petition making the rounds in an attempt to get her out of NYC, with 107,000 signatures and counting.

8. Fashion

Michelle: Designers have been lining up to dress her over the past 8 years, turning her into one of America's most influential fashion icons. After wearing a dress by relatively unknown designer Jason Wu to her husband's first inauguration, the designer completely blew up and is now one of the fashion world's most well-known designers.

Melania: She may have the funds and resources to wear anything she wants, but now it may take some persuading from the designers. Since her husband's election into office, a number of fashion designers have come out saying that they refuse to dress her. Renowned designer Tom Ford initiated this trend when he came out saying he is not interested in dressing America's newest First Lady.

9. Initiatives As First Lady

Michelle: During her 8 years as First Lady, she had four main initiatives that will be her greatest legacy: Let's Move is a project devoted to addressing the nationwide issue of childhood obesity, Joining Forces is a venture urging all Americans to rally around and support veterans and their families, Reach Higher is all about inspiring young Americans to finish out their education through high school, and Let Girls Learn is a government-wide project helping girls throughout America go to school and stay in school.

Melania: She's not quite First Lady yet, so we can't exactly be sure of what projects she will take on, but Melania has mentioned some of her plans. She has said that her first initiative will be to tackle today's hateful social media culture. The goal is to prevent people from being mean to one another based off of looks, intelligence, social status, and so on.

10. Appearances in Pop Culture

Michelle: One of the things that makes her so loved, especially by millennials, is how relatable and "real" she is. Television hosts jump at the opportunity to have her on their show, and many have teamed up with Michelle to make viral bits. Most notably, she danced with Jimmy Fallon in "The Evolution of Mom Dancing" and starred in a segment of The Late Late Show With James Corden's Carpool Karaoke—two clips that instantly went viral.

Melania: While she has been making plenty of TV appearances as herself in news interviews, often defending her husband, she has also appeared in some clips looking not quiii ite like herself. Saturday Night Live has a recurring segment, "Melania Moments", in which a cast member playing Melania acts out the thoughts going on in Melania's head.

11. Overall Reception From The World

Michelle: Some may say that she will go down as the most loved and successful First Lady in US history. She even graced the cover of this month's Vogue, in which the cover read: "The First Lady the world fell in love with". Her initiatives and projects as First Lady will leave an impact on society and continue to be in effect as part of the legacy that she will leave behind.

Melania: She will be the first First Lady to be born in a Communist society, and the second First Lady born out of the country. Revolutionary, yes, however some Americans view this as her biggest flaw. It is even being speculated that many are hoping Donald's daughter Ivanka will take over the roles that the First Lady normally would. A poll from back in July even showed Melania as the least-liked of all potential First Ladies. However, like with her husband, we are ready to give her a chance.
