Abigail Breslin was constantly being shielded from profanity on set.

During some of Alan Alda's more cursing-filled scenes, she was monitored to make sure she had real music playing in her headphones.

It's an Academy-Award filled film cast.

The four top-billed cast members have all been nominated for Oscars. (Breslin was nominated and Alda won for their roles in this film.)

Dwayne may have been 15 but....

Paul Dano was 22 when he was playing him.

Michael Arndt had a very different job before writing this film.

He was actually Matthew Broderick's assistant. He quit to write Little Miss Sunshine.

The movie took five years to make.

This was mostly due to finances.

Abigail Breslin stood out a bit among the pageant girls.

All the other Little Miss Sunshine competitors were real beauty pageant veterans and were repeating their old routines and looks in the movie.

Being Olive required a different look for Abigail Breslin.

She actually had to wear a fat suit for the role.

But the first two choices for the part were Bill Murray and Robin Williams.

Fox held a rather unique screening of the film at a drive-in theater.

It was for VW bus owners only - and 65 of them showed up for the movie.

The "heroin" snorted at the beginning of the film (obviously) was not heroin.

It was actually crushed-up B vitamins.
