A 500-seater purpose built banqueting suite will now be built at the Owlerton branch with current staff offered jobs at other sites.
The news prompted an outpouring of shock and disappointment among Sheffield residents.
Punters began sharing their fond memories of the casino on the Star's Facebook post, with others making plans for a 'final celebrity night' on Saturday.
