The World's First Underground Park Is In The Works, And The Designs Will Blow Your Mind

New York City Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen and the New York City Economic Development Corporation have just announced their approval for the Lowline Project, which will create a gorgeous, green park underneath the city.

The park will be located beneath Manhattan's lower East Side and serve as a hangout for locals as well as a tourist attraction.

The Lowline should be finished by 2020, but the space for it was created in the early 20th century as a trolley terminal.

Even though it's underground, plenty of natural light will stream through the roof.

The underground park might be able to serve as a warm, green space even in brutal New York winters!

Mirrors will act kind of like periscopes to channel sunlight underground.

When Lowline opens to the public, it will serve several purposes.

The area near the entryway will serve as an event space and will house relics from the old trolley station.

Lowline will also have fitness classes and offer lots of space for quiet contemplation.
