1. Muncie was founded by the Ball Brothers, a group of entrepreneurial businessmen that used Muncie as their main location for the canning jar company.

After coming to Muncie in 1885, the brothers invested in the community and was a large influence on its culture.

Pawnee, IN from Parks and Recreation is based on Muncie.

David Letterman went to Ball State!

Letterman was heavily involved in the university's radio program when he attended the school in 1965. Ever since then he has always held Ball State it in the highest regards as a great institution.

Jim Davis is from Muncie too!

Paws Inc. is the creative studio devoted to writing, drawing and design for Garfield housed in Muncie.

John Dillinger, the famous bank robber stopped in Muncie once. He didn't rob any banks because he was afraid a train would hinder his escape.

Bob Ross filmed and produced his show "The Joy of Painting" at Ball State's WIPB studio.

Muncie really isn't all that bad.

Muncie gets some pretty bad flack. It can actually be a pretty great place to live. Ball State's campus is fantastic and offers more than you could imagine for the community. While the city has its problems, Muncie locals will always think of them as unique quirks. The people that live here are passionate about their hometown and are striving to make it a better place right now.
