TONKIN
TONKIN
onkins live under water. They have jellyfish-like bodies and soft, tentacle-like legs, which they use as hands. When required a Tonkin’s legs will morph together to form a gliding base. The gliding base helps Tonkins to move through the water and along the seabed without any effort. It is also the preferred form of the Tonkin when sleeping, which means that a Tonkin is carried on the current while asleep and wakes up in a new place. Tonkins are quite adventurous and do not mind waking up somewhere new.
A Tonkin’s big eyes allow them to see all. This all-seeing brings a vast amount of knowledge, but because they are inherently flighty, Tonkins do not use the knowledge they acquire. They are happy to float around, seeing new places or hanging out with their family. Tonkins think it is extremely funny to hide in a reef hole and pop up suddenly, surprising any passing Tonkins. They will laugh about this all day.
MALLO
MALLO
Mallos live on soft, grassy islands in the sky. They love to be with their friends, and spend the day making their Mallo islands wonderful places to live. They are very happy creatures.
Mallos come in six forms – Kite, Cloud, Heart, Pencil, Paintbrush, Rainbow – but they can morph their shape, whenever necessary, to carry out any task that improves the Mallo island village.
Mallos get around by floating. They are so filled with happiness that they are practically weightless, which means they can move around effortlessly, flitting here and there to spend time with each other.
Mallos love to share everything. They enjoy having sleepovers and getting together to have fun. They are soft, gentle creatures with big hearts.
FLOOT
FLOOT
Floots live in an Arctic wasteland, where everything is frozen and it is always icy cold. Unfortunately, the Floots are ill-equipped to cope in their surroundings.
Not only do Floots hate the cold, but they have small feet and big bodies which causes them to fall over on the frozen ground all the time.
Floots live in igloos, where they huddle together for warmth. They would prefer not to have to step outside at all, but they have a symbiote living in their belly which loves the cold. In fact, symbiotes require ice cream in order to survive, so a Floot must eat at least eight ice creams a day. Floots hate doing this as it makes them even colder. When a Floot goes outside to eat ice cream it puts on a scarf to compensate for the extreme cold. It doesn’t really make any difference, but it makes the Floots feel a bit better.
KRONK
KRONK
Kronks live in the Wild West. They have geometric, well-structured bodies and neatly formed hands.
Kronks are inventors; they are incredible at making weird and wonderful mechanical things out of day-to-day objects or scraps that they find. Kronks like to sit behind a cactus when they are trying to think up new inventions; they say it is cool and it helps them to focus. When a Kronk has a new idea, it will poke its head out from behind the cactus and shout, “Kronker!” – to which all the other Kronks reply, “Kronk”.
Kronks like their own company and are never happier than when they are using their neat little hands to create their inventions.
HUGGA
HUGGA
Huggas live high-up in giant bamboo trees. They are green and furry and have big hands. They are called Huggas because they like to hug stuff. A Hugga will hug trees, another Hugga and anything else that comes into the Hugga village.
Huggas are friendly and easy-going. They are tolerant of all things, and love the planet. If something goes wrong in a Hugga village, all the Huggas will come together to talk about it and will then have a massive hug, which generally puts everything right.
A Hugga’s main occupation is building Hugga Huts. These huts are built by four Huggas or more and are used as houses, play areas, resting spaces and central eating rooms. Huggas love sitting together around a fire-pit, telling stories and enjoying each other’s company. They are very sociable.
OOLOO
OOLOO
The Ooloos are a crazy tribe of eccentric wizarding folk who live on islands of water and ice, hidden amongst the clouds. Ooloos are worriers, something which stems mainly from the fact that their islands are not tethered to the clouds and so are constantly being buffeted across the sky to new locations.
TASTY
TASTY
Tasty Tincs are a happy, welcoming bunch who spend their days having fun on sunny tropical islands. They love nothing more than getting together to play beach games and swim in the warm, crystal-clear waters. Miraculously, they find the sun and sea so refreshing that they never melt or lose their juicy freshness.
OJAY
OJAY
The Ojays live on searingly hot volcanic islands miles away from the nearest strip of luscious green land. They are rough and tough, and their skin is made of thick orange rubber that protects them from the sun and the unrelenting heat. Despite their tough appearance, they are a very chilled bunch, with kind hearts.
Because of the scorching sun, they choose to work in the evenings when the temperature drops to 60℃. They use this time to make fantastic lava sculptures. Sucking up lava from the sea of lava that surrounds their island and cooling it in the hot springs, they then blow it like fine glass or mould it into dark mysterious shapes which sell amazingly well on the mainland.
Before the sun comes up, they lay down on the floor and grab a well-earned snooze, ready for a day of relaxing and playing together in the hot springs that cover their island.
