American Football Positions and Their Descriptions - Offense

A Quarterback (QB), is the main position of the game. They call numbers to tell the players the play, and they control the plays, too!

A Fullback (FB) is somebody who does running plays and is closer to the Quarterback than other positions. They often go for plays that need strength.

A Halfback (HB) is behind the Fullback (FB), and often goes for runs that don't require strength but require mostly speed to get up the field faster.

A Wide Receiver (WR), is somebody who goes out for passes. They usually go for longer passes than other positions, such as the Tight End (TE).

A Tight End (TE) is someone who goes out for shorter passes, but not always. They usually are bigger than Wide Receivers (WR's), and don't go as long.

A Center (C) is someone who snaps the ball to the Quarterback (QB) by spiraling it to them upside down, to let the Quarterback (QB) receive the snap.

An Offensive Guard (OG) defends against the Linebackers (LB's) of the defense, in a way so that they try not to let them sack the Quarterback (QB).

An Offensive Tackle (OT) defends against the Linebackers (LB's) of the defense, in a way so that they try not to let them sack the Quarterback (QB).
