Earlier this week, in Pembrokeshire, Wales, UK, some of the world's noblest bees attempted a daring mission to rescue their queen from the trunk of a Mitsubishi Outlander.

The queen had apparently become lost in the trunk of the vehicle owned by 68-year-old shopper, Carol Howarth.

Behold, Carol Howarth, bee-queen-captor, in all her nefarious insect-kidnapping glory.

The 20,000 bees were foiled in their initial rescue attempt, however, by local beekeepers, who managed to lure the brave little drones into a cardboard box.

However, the bees refused to be brought down without a fight, stinging one beekeeper 15 to 20 times.

Even after their first defeat, the bees regrouped and continued to fight their way toward their queen, tracking down the kidnapper and resuming their assault on her vehicle at her home.

"Daaaaaamn, bees! Back at it again with the queen-rescue!"

Carol had to call in the beekeepers once more in her attempts to counteract the bee-rescue.

The weariest, most defeated beekeeper.

Alas, in the end, the bees' brave actions were all for naught. The queen they were seeking was never found.

Noble bees, fallen in the line of duty.

Rest in peace, queen bee, wherever you are. And rest in peace, you brave bee souls who gave your lives in your attempts to save your queen from the Mitsubishi fortress. May you pollinate many bright flowers in the bee afterlife.
