Jackie Evancho was one of the few artists who accepted the invitation to perform at the Trump inauguration and even sang the national anthem. However, that does not mean that the 16-year-old opera aficionado agrees with all of his policies. When Trump recently repealed Obama's policies on transgender rights, allowing states and school districts to individually decide whether or not to allow trans students to use the bathroom of their choice, Evancho tweeted, saying:

She later tweeted Donald Trump personally, asking for a chance to meet with him and discuss the lives and rights of trans people.

Evancho and her older sister, Juliet, who is a trans woman, also gave an interview with a local news station, in which Jackie continued:

When I heard the news I was just thinking about my sister and the things that she's gone through, and the struggles that we've all had to deal with. Me watching her suffer like that is really hard to do.

Juliet weighed in on the issue, saying:

In order to make a huge decision like that, you need people who live it every day. I feel like it was a little rushed and I feel like there wasn't a lot of planning that went into it.

Do you agree with Jackie Evancho that Trump should not have repealed federal protections for transgender students?
