Medicare Advantage Plans For Disabled People

If you have not hit the 65 year mark yet but you are eligible for Medicare because of disability, you can still decide to opt the Medical advantage plan instead of the original Medicare part A and Part B. The Medicare advantage plan for disabled people might be providing more coverage than the original Medicare when it is alone. And with the Medicare advantage plans for 2020, things might just get even better. 

The original Medicare usually include part A that covers hospitalization and part B that covers the other medical costs. Most of the people who use the original Medicare plan, usually add the Part D prescription drug that covers for their drug supply, copay as well as other things that Medicare does not cover.
But the Medical advantage plan also known as Medicare part C and which will be replaced by Medicare part N when the Medicare advantage plans for 2020, takes effect is an all in one plan. It is usually sold by private insurance carriers by the authority of the Medicare.

But there are two conditions that can make you be eligible for the benefits even sooner.
·        If you are suffering from Lou Gehrig’s disease (ALS) then you will be automatically be enrolled to the Medicare even before the 24 months.
·        If you are at the end stage of renal disease, all you need is contact the social security administration and you will be enrolled for Medicare.
Generally, if you are eligible for Medicare, you can just enroll for Medical advantage plan regardless of the condition you are in. But for people with end stage renal disease, it might be difficult enrolling in a Medical advantage plan since most don’t agree to it. Don’t panic though, you can still qualify for a different type of medical advantage plan that goes by the name special needs plan.
The initial enrollment for a Medicare advantage plan is usually 3 months before the month you enrolled for Medicare and it comes to an end 3 months after the month your Medicare benefits commence. You can also enroll or even your Medicare advantage plan at any of the following times.
·        Between October 15^th and December 7^th during the Annual Elections period.
·        And between January first and March 31^st during the Medicare open enrollment period. 

If you are disabled and you are turning 65 soon, you can switch from your Medicare advantage plan back to your original Medicare then sign up for a Medicare supplement during the open enrollment that usually begin on your 65^th birthday. Like if you are turning 65 on 7^th August 2019, your open enrollment will be open as from 7^th august all the way to January 7^th 2020.
 When you sign up for Medigap at your open enrollment period, the insurance company should sell the policy and it must not charge you any extra amount because of your health condition or what led to your disability.
