5 Continents, 20+ Countries, and 70,000+ Miles: Meet the World's Most Well-Traveled Brick.

In 2009, a small college in New York state was undergoing a renovation. As hundreds of paving bricks from the outdoor plaza were being replaced, a geocacher named ‘Dharma Dogs’ had a flash of wacky brilliance. He grabbed one of the paving bricks, attached a Travel Bug trackable tag to it, and then placed it in a nearby geocache.

From there the brick went on 5-year odyssey, traveling to 5 continents, 20+ countries, and over 70,000 miles. Here are some of the highlights from the 'Brick’s' incredible journey

New York, USA

The main plaza at Purchase University in New York State was undergoing a renovation. Geocacher ‘Dharma Dogs’ attached a Travel Bug trackable tag to one of the paver bricks and sent it off into the world.

Los Angeles International Airport, USA

It bopped around the east coast for a couple of years, but eventually made it to Los Angeles—land of movie stars, endless beaches, and beautiful sunshine. How glamorous!

Stonehenge, United Kingdom

But in just days, it was placed at the feet of its great ancestors. It's humbling to be in the midst of your idols.

Big Ben, London, United Kingdom

While in England, the 'Brick' saw some of London's most iconic sites: Big Ben and a double-decker bus.

Eiffel Tower, Paris, France

Then it looked for love in the City of Light—Paris. Ooh la la!

Guinness Storehouse, Dublin, Ireland

Then a jaunt to Dublin for a pint at the Guinness Storehouse.

Canals of Amsterdam, Netherlands

The brick took a lovely boat ride through the canals of Amsterdam and even logged a T5 geocache.

Leaning Tower of Pisa, Italy

It eventually made it to Italy, where, "The chance to get a shot of the 'Brick' at the Leaning Tower of Pisa was too great to pass up, so I hopped on a train...” Molto bene!

La Sagrada Família, Barcelona, Spain

Then it visited the La Sagrada Família. One has to wonder if one of those stones ever went on a worldwide journey...

Sydney Opera House, Sydney, Australia

Then January of 2014, it rang in a new year AND a new continent. Time for the 'Brick' to go Down Under!

Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna, Austria

Apparently, the 'Brick' attended the opera, and traveled back to Europe to see the Vienna State Opera.

V & A Waterfront, Western Cape, South Africa

In May, the 'Brick' traveled to a new continent: Africa! The log for that day says, "I guess South Africa can be added to the list of places I've been..."

Airport Travel from Europe to North America

Eventually it was time to head back to North America. The 'Brick' had to pass airport security, but was able to sit in first-class all the way to Canada!

And on the Fourth of July, after 5 continents, 20+ countries, and 70,000+ miles, the 'Brick' was reunited with its owner! What an incredible journey!
