Formula Rossa

At number one, holding the record for the fastest roller coaster in the world is, Formula Rossa. You are going to have to head to Ferrari World in Abhu Dhabi to experience this one, but if you are a thrill seeker it is well worth it. This roller coaster travels at a top speed of 150 miles an hour! That is nearly 5 times faster than free fall.

2

Coming in second place is Kingda Ka, which is situated at Six Flags Great Adventure Park. It is the fastest roller coaster in the United States, reaching 128 miles an hour in just 3.5 seconds. If you thought that is enough to soothe your need for speed, then you should also know that it reaches a maximum height of 456 feet!

3

Third place is Top Thrill Dragster, situated in Ohio. It is the second fastest roller coaster in America, reaching 120 miles an hour in only four seconds. It also reaches a height of 420 feet and follows a 270-degree twist when descending.

4

Falling in fourth place is Dodonpa, which is the fastest roller coaster in Japan, reaching a maximum speed of 107 miles an hour. The length of the track is nearly 1.2 kilometres and Dodonpa covers it within 55 seconds!

5

Last but not least is Superman, and no, not the hero. Superman is a shuttle roller coaster rising to a height of 415 feet, and reaching a maximum speed of 100 miles an hour in just seven seconds. And if that doesn't get your adrenaline pumping, then another small detail that I should mention is that ride actually goes backwards!
