In this bracket, the team whose campus was closer to Philips Arena advanced. Filling out this bracket gave us an Iron Bowl Final Four matchup and a hometown national champion.
Closest Matchup: Bucknell sneaks by Michigan State in the Round of 64 by just three miles!
Cinderella: Georgia State winning it all.
By Mascot: Most Closely Resembling a Hawk
In this bracket, the four birds are in four different regions, so they cruised to the Final Four. The Kansas Jayhawks, of course, emerged victorious.
Closest Matchup: Ties went to the higher seed. Great for the Kentucky Wildcats in their first matchup with Davidson. Not so great in their second matchup with Arizona.
Cinderella: Two 16 seeds, the LIU-Brooklyn Blackbirds and North Carolina Central Eagles, went from First Four to Final Four.
By Alma Mater: Hawks All-Stars
In this bracket, winners advanced based on how many All Star selections their alums have had with our franchise, with ties going to the higher seed. Joe Johnson's six All Star selections are enough to carry Arkansas to the title. Kansas and Kentucky had five each.
Closest Matchup: Kentucky and Providence each had five selections thanks to Cliff Hagen and Lenny Wilkens, respectively.
Cinderella: Wilkens carries Providence to the Final Four.
By Team Color: Most Closely Resembling Hawks Colors
In this bracket, the team whose colors more closely matched ours advanced. The Final Four was tricky, so we had to make some judgment calls in a very tough field, but Davidson emerged as champs.
Closest Matchup: Both semifinals and the final were toss-ups, so we went with Davidson because we liked their logo best.
Cinderella: Davidson and San Diego State getting to San Antonio as double digit seeds.
