Plus size clothing, a not a very trendy of familiar name despite the fact that it represents more than half of the American population. For some less known reasons, fashion pundits and retailers don’t appear as enthusiastic as they are about other fashion trends. Though things are changing for good and plus size consumers have something to smile for, the trend is moving at a snail’s pace and will likely take a while before being accepted wholeheartedly. But, despite such obstacles, there is no denying that plus size fashion will take its share from the market one way or another. Here is more on how plus size fashion is making its presence felt, slowly but surely:

Retailers Are Finally Paying Heed

The big news for plus size consumers is that retailers are finally paying heed to their demands. Being a plus size woman is no longer a problem as you’ll likely find the right size clothes and accessories at more retail stores than ever. There were times when finding the right size for 14 or above consumer was quite a headache as most racks in retail stores were devoted to smaller sizes. With plus size celebrities like Rebel Wilson planning her clothing line, there is little excuse left for most retailers to keep refusing to sell plus size clothes. That’s not all, as some of the most famous plus size models Tess Holliday (size 22) who took the fashion industry by a storm are explicitly advocating the industry to pay attention to this market segment. As such, people are now finding more stores selling plus size clothing.

Online Stores, Coupons and Promo Codes

Online stores are selling plus size clothing for a while now. Stores like Ashley Stewart and Ulla Popken have been firm in their resolve and are standing with their loyal plus size customers. Similarly, online sites like ClothingRIC are equally committed to their customers and are churning out plus size clothing coupons and promo codes at an unprecedented pace. Consumers love to buy plus size clothes online as they get attractive schemes and huge discounts. In some cases, customers find up to 60% off on some select clothing and accessory deals. That’s not all, as customers often get a chance to buy clearance sale stock on very attractive prices too.

Additionally, some stocks come with free shipping codes, so consumers get their favorite clothes without having to pay shipping charges. In short, online clothing sites along with partner sites have played their part in popularizing plus size clothing among the masses. The trend will only grow stronger in coming years, and you’ll see more buyers prefer buying online compared to buying on physical stores.

The Era Of Curvy Girl Is Here

What if you are told that the era of slim fashion models is slowly departing and making room for the next trend – the curvy girl? Sounds farfetched for now, but there are signs that it may well happen sooner than many anticipated. Plus size modeling icon Ashley Graham is confident that the fashion world is now preparing to accept curvy girls are their fashion models. Moreover, they’ll go to the extent that their cover models will likely be curvy instead of slim. Graham is optimistic about the prominence of curvy models in the industry and a vocal supporter of changing trends. Her appearance in 2015’s Sports Illustrated Swim Edition magazine was a testament to how the industry is slowly beginning to read the vibes of changing fashion trends. As the first plus size magazine featured model, Graham claims that it is just a matter of time when the industry will bid farewell to its obsession with skinny models.

Plus Size: A Broad Term?

In a recent article, anticipating the inevitable rise of the plus size revolution, models are now charging a hefty $20,000 compared to the previously mediocre sum of $150. With high profile plus size models now commanding more ad campaigns, they are capitalizing their rise in the industry and making every effort to make the plus size clothing a common apparel in every home. Influential plus size models like Tara Lynn and Crystal Renn are fast becoming household names for this reason. The gust of change can be judged as the fashion industry has revised the plus size and refers any model as plus size that is not straight. In other words, the term “Plus Size” refers to any size ranging from size 8 to 14 or above. Also, it is observed that plus size models and consumers are now accepting the way they look. This is a huge change considering how overweight people traditionally took fitness and exercises, and dieting to shed weight. Now with plus size fashion accepted as a norm, people will no longer hit the gym to look slim, as looking slim is increasingly becoming obsolete.

More Clothing Options

The age of slim and skinny style clothes is long gone. With plus size clothing hitting the mainstream fashion, people now have plenty of clothing options to choose from. Broadly speaking, this translates to the fact that clothes will now better represent more body types. Naturally, more designers will have to opt to manufacture plus size clothing whether or not they like. After all, it is all about consumer choice, and if the consumer wants plus size, makers and retailers will have to comply.
These are just some of the reasons why the fashion industry is gradually warming up to plus size clothing. In years to come, we may well see plus size clothing becoming trendier and dynamic.
