Peaky Blinders
It may have been set in Birmingham but the period gangster drama was filmed in Leeds. The team was based at Studio 81 and filmed in locations including Bolton Abbey, Leeds Town Hall and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway. Executive Producer Frith Tiplady praised Leeds as a location.
Happy Valley
Penned by Sally Wainwright and filmed in locations around her childhood home in the Calder Valley including Halifax, Sowerby Bridge, Mytholmroyd and Todmorden. The main character, Catherine Cawood, is played by Sarah Lancashire and the cast includes James Norton who grew up in Malton.
This is England
Maybe it should be called This is Sheffield. The pub in all three series is the John O’Gaunt in Sheffield and for This is England 90, lead character Shaun can be found at a house in Stannington, while Woody and Lol are at Lowedges. Norton College is the college attended by Smell and her gothic friends.
