Although you may not have one of the gifts of the spirit listed you seem to be a spiritual person. We are living in a time that has been increasingly normal to embrace our spiritual sides. Concepts such as life after death, finding your life's purpose and searching for the truth are noble goals to strive for. Even if we live in a world where science and logic are held in high regard we still question the possibility that there is more to our existence than this physical world. May your search for the truth be fruitful in your spiritual journey.

If you have the spiritual gift of discernment you will be able to tell the difference between right and wrong. People with this spiritual gift have the ability to look at something in a way that weighs whether it fits in with God's intentions. Discernment means looking beyond the surface of what's being said or taught or written to find the truth in it. Some people liken the spiritual gift of discernment to "gut instinct," because sometimes discerning people just get a feeling when something's not quite right.

The person with the spiritual gift of helps is someone who tends to work behind the scenes to get things done. The individual with this gift will often do his/her job joyfully and take the responsibilities off of others shoulders. They have a personality that is humble and have no problems sacrificing time and energy to do God's work. They even have an ability to see what others need often before they even know they need it. People with this spiritual gift have a great attention to detail and tend to be very loyal, and they tend to go above and beyond in everything. They are often described as having a servant's heart.

Each of us has an understanding of God and the Scripture because someone in our lives had the spiritual gift of teaching. People with this spiritual gift enjoy taking the lessons of the Bible and sharing it with others so they get a deeper understanding of the Word. Those with the spiritual gift of teaching love to learn and research things so that they can give others a strong understanding of the Word. They are able to take what's in the Bible and show it to others in ways that it can be applied practically to their lives.

People with the spiritual gift of hospitality have the desire and ability to bring people into their homes and provide them with food and fellowship. Their homes are places where people feel they are of value and are welcomed. The environment is safe and comfortable. They also tend to put people at ease when they are new to their surroundings. This is an important gift in youth ministry, where many teens are uncomfortable when they walk in for the first time. A peer with the spiritual gift of hospitality goes a long way in building up the youth group and making that person feel comfortable and welcome.

The spiritual gift of wisdom is very solution-oriented, and the gift is rooted in having insight into how the Holy Spirit thinks.
The person who has this gift often looks at a situation and just seems to know how to deal with it. The spiritual gift of wisdom involves being able to not only see what is going on, but to take a practical approach to doing something about it. The person with this spiritual gift will often live by answers to the question, "What would Jesus do?"

A person with the spiritual gift of knowledge will have a great amount of insight into God's truths. Having this spiritual gift means being into the ideas contained in the scriptures and understanding it well.

The spiritual gift of encouragement is one of those essential spiritual gifts that people don't tend to notice they need until they get it. The person with this gift have the ability to find those in need and lift up their spirits. They're kind of like the cheerleaders in the church, encouraging people to overcome difficult times. They allow those who are hurting or burdened to see the light at the end of the tunnel and feel as though there are people who care about them. Those with this gift are real morale boosters.
