V Festival is celebrating it's 20th anniversary, so here's some facts about it

No seriously. In 1996, Jarvis Cocker wanted two outdoor shows in different locations. They added more acts to the line-up and V96 was born.

By a wasp! The group were performing 'Call The Shots' on the Main Stage in 2008 when the mini pest caused havoc.

With bottles of piss! The former X Factor star ran off stage when the Essex crowd turned on her back in 2012.

But the internet won't tell us why.

But it was audio-only, and to about 30,000 listeners. It was the dark age of the dial-up, remember.

Before that point it was simply known as V followed by the year. V96, V97, V98 and so on, until V2002.

Totalling at four times during the festival's history so far. We know, we thought it was more than that too.

She sang tracks from Northern Star on the Main Stage back in 1999. What a time to be alive that was.

Yep, in '97 and '98 it took place at Temple Newsam in Leeds. Blur, The Prodigy, The Verve, and The Charlatans were the headliners during those shows.

Because he was booked as third down on the Main Stage. It pissed a lot of guitar fans off, as pop regularly manages to do.

The star headlined the JJB Puma Arena, but due to the massive crowds she attracted, security were forced to stop letting more people in.

The band's final show before their split in 2009 was at the Staffordshire site. They didn't turn up to Chelmsford :-/

But had to pull out after contracting malaria.

Their prize was to play the opening performance at V Festival that year. Wonder where they are now, eh...

It was called Virgin Mobile FreeFest and, if you hadn't already guessed from the name, it was a free festival. It closed in 2014 though.

And they've continued to have double the fun for 20 festivals so far.

90,000 ticket holders at both Weston Park, Staffordshire, and Hylands Park, Chelmsford. They're basically mini cities.

But they split in 1999, so it didn't really work out for them in the end.
