April 23rd is English Language Day, which, to those of us who live in English-speaking countries, can seem like, "So what? Every day is English language day!"
And fair enough. But, this "holiday" gives all of us a chance to stop and appreciate all the other languages, too, that have contributed to the global English of today.
Sure, there are obvious words like "cafe" from French or "kindergarten" from German, but what about some of the less obvious ones? Let's see if you can guess which languages these common English words come from.
