Theseus and the Minotaur

Theseus and the Minotaur

The story of how Theseus, Prince of Athens defeated the Minotaur (a creature with the head of a bull and the body of a man) where no one before him could, using the help of a ball of yarn given to him by his captor's daughter, Ariadne, who he ends up marooning on an island. Before he set off, he promised his father that, should he survive, he would sail back in his ship with white flags, if not, black flags. His white flags were torn in a storm, so, though he survived, he had to use black flags. Upon hearing the news of his son's apparent death, his father jumps off a cliff, stricken by grief, leaving his son the King of Athens.

You are gullible yet intuitive and love to help others when they are in need, but are sometimes two-faced if the situation goes bad. Despite bad things happening to you, you often end up in a better situation than you might expect.

Odysseus and the Cyclops

Odysseus and the Cyclops

The conflict between Odysseus and the cyclops, Polyphemus, starts when Odysseus and his men disturb the cyclops in his cave. For revenge, the cyclops eats on of Odysseus men. When Odysseus realises he is trapped, he gives the cyclops some wine and gets him drunk. Odysseus and his men blind the cyclops and leave with one of Odysseus men tied on the bottom of each of the cyclops's sheep. To trick the cyclops, Odysseus calls himself Nobody, so the other cyclops on the island would be confused when Polyphemus said "Nobody" poked out his eye.

You, like Odysseus, are good at making plans and events usually happen just the way you think they will. Despite this, you often make obvious mistakes like the cyclops did when he trusted Odysseus.

Hades and Persephone

Hades and Persephone

Hades fell in love with Persephone from the first time he saw her, so he concocted a plan to kidnap her and bring her back to the underworld (where Hades lived). When Persephone was away, plants stopped growing and people and animal starved. This was the first Winter and it lasted a year. Persephone knew that if you ate food in the Underworld, you would have to stay there forever, but she was so hungry after staying there for a year, she had to eat just a few pomegranate seeds, thinking they were so insignificant and small no one would notice. However, Hades found out and argued to Hermes (who had come to fetch her back to Earth) that she had to stay. Hermes eventually convinced Hades to save the people of Earth and allow Persephone back for 9 months of the year.

You are very kind and considerate of others, but sometimes do things without considering the effects it would have on others. No matter what you do, you mean well.

The Trojan War

The Trojan War

The Trojan War was waged against the city of Troy by the Greeks after Paris of Troy stole Helen from her husband Menelaus, the king of Sparta. After many battles trying to break the walls of Troy, the Greek army came up with the Trojan Horse strategy. While many of the Greek warriors hid inside the horse, the rest of the army took to the ships to throw off the Trojans. The Trojans partied after their supposed victory so when the Greeks attacked, they conquered the Trojans with little resistance.

You would do a lot to save the few people close to you, even if it means others get hurt in the process. You often get your way because of your cunning mind.

Prometheus- the Thief of Fire

Prometheus- the Thief of Fire

Prometheus was set with the task of creating mankind from clay. He made a detailed man and a woman, while his brother, Epimetheus, made animals, using up all the claws, spots and stripes they had. All there was left for Prometheus was some hair and thin skin.
Though he wanted the best for his humans, Zeus would not allow him to give them fire, so he stole some from Mount Olympus. When Zeus found out, he bound Prometheus to a rock and made an eagle peck out his organs every day forever (because he's immortal and invincible).

You love the people around you and put them before yourself. If they ever need help, you help them, even if it leaves you worse off.

Pandora's Box

Pandora's Box

Pandora was given a box as a wedding present at her wedding to Epimethius. Her husband told her never to open the box until the end of the world. However, Pandora was a very curious person, and thought just sneaking a look wouldn't do any harm. So, she opened the box a tiny crack and all the evils of the world floated out: Disease, Famine, Envy, Greed, Anger. She closed the box as soon as she could, though most of the things in the box had gone. She immediately told her husband what she had done. Her husband said, "You must open the box again. All that's left is the most powerful one. Hope." So she did, and as long as there is hope, the world cannot ever be so bad.

You are too curious for your own good. There is always hope to guide you though any sticky situation. People around you love you, despite your faults.

Daedalus and Icarus

Daedalus and Icarus

When Minos' Minotaur was killed, Minos looked for someone else to blame. He chose Daedalus. The king locked up him and his son, Icarus, in a tall tower. There was no food or water, but there were birds and honeycombs, so Daedalus formed a plan. He made wings from the feathers and stuck them together with the wax from the honeycomb. Leather straps were made from their belts, and soon enough, they had a means of escaping. Before they set off, Daedalus told Icarus not to fly too close to the sun, or the wax would melt and he would fall. However, when they were flying, his mind too occupied with the fact that he was flying and free, Icarus forgot what his father had said and flew too close to the sun, and fell into the ocean below.

Your aspirations often exceed what's possible. You rarely listen to others' advice, which gets you into trouble sometimes. You value your family more than anyone else.

Narcissus

Narcissus

Narcissus was very attractive. Everyone was in love with him, especially himself. He stared at his reflection in a pool while countless people swooned over him. He stayed by the pool for so long that he became a Narcissus flower.

You are vain, and often put yourself before others. For some reason, people like you, but don't take what you have for granted. Appreciate your good traits while still improving your bad ones.
