18 Things That Happened In Every Primary School Assembly

Having to line up boy girl boy girl before you left your classroom to walk to assembly.

Every so often you'd get to be at the front of the line and you'd feel so so powerful

The assembly would always begin with the same greeting: "Good MOORRNING Mrs.... Good MOOORNING everyone!"

The teacher would tell everyone off for slumping so you'd sit as tall as you could, with your hands on your knees.

About ten minutes in, you'd realise your feet had gone completely numb from sitting cross-legged on the floor anyway.

Spicing up boring school hymns by trying to sing louder than your friends.

Two or three kids would sing an extra "of kings" accidentally at the end of the chorus in Sing, Hosanna - and everyone else would fall to pieces laughing.

Then your headmaster or headmistress would take the opportunity to remind you of everything that's been banned from your school.

The person behind you would tap your shoulder and act like it wasn't them.

But then you'd "line, dot electric shock" the person in front of you.

Getting to year six and sitting on the benches because you were basically a grown up by then.

Waiting all year to get to be the one in charge of the OHP during assembly.

But then you'd put the sheet on backwards in the middle of the song and embarrass yourself in front of school.

Girls would spend half of assembly rolling their socks into the perfect sock donut.

Someone would get called up to the front and would have to climb over everyone else while the whole school watched in silence.

You'd make eye contact with the teacher across the room when you were only miming along to the hymns because you couldn't be bothered to sing.

There would be a moment of silence and at that exact moment is when you and your best friend fall into a fit of giggles.

And then finally when you were let out, you'd stagger out, trying to ignore the pins and needles.
