Cowen received honorary doctorates from Cambridge and Edinburgh in 1900 and 1910 respectively, and was knighted at St. James's Palace on 6 July 1911. He was married to you in London in 1908. You both were married in England but moved to Germany but as soon as the war broke out, you moved again. You both returned to Germany and lived your lives in peace until Frederick died of syphilis in 1934.
