The Met Gala, the yearly event that draws the top fashion influencers for a super chic Gala, in order to donate money for the New York based museum was cancelled this year because of the COVID-19 (thanks a lot, Coronavirus). The only thing we can do to ease the pain is to rank the most iconic looks from the past 10 years. Have fun, and try to stay chic.
Kendall Jenner
The super model wore a gorgeous Versace dress to the 2019 Gala. The theme was "camp", which was all about self-expression and exaggeration. Well, she was definitely on point.
Beyonce
2015 brought with it some of the most iconic outfits to the steps to the Met. Beyonce, of course, made everyone gasp when she took her first step on the carpet. Queen B wore a Givenchy dress with not much room for the imagination yet enough sparkles to bless our eyes.
Blake Lively
Serena Van Der Woodsen... oops, we mean Blake Lively shut down the Met steps in 2018 wearing a breathtaking Versace Gown. The theme that year was "Heavenly bodies", which means it was all about the connection between fashion and religion and Lively definitely embodied that with her angelic look.
Rihanna
All hail the most iconic Met gala look of all times - Rihanna wearing Guo Pei in 2015. The exhibition was named "China: Through the looking glass" which embodied Chinese culture's impact on fashion. According to the theme, Rihanna chose a Chinese designer to make her a gown, that was all people talked about afterwards.
Sarah Jessica Parker
In 2015, both Beyonce and Rihanna took our breath away with their mind-blowing looks. Who can stand strong next to them? The one and only Sarah Jessica Parker. The Oscar De La Renta outfit alongside the Philip Treacy headpiece were not only on point with the theme but also could be considered as a real piece of art. We're not crying, we just got a huge headpiece stuck in our eye.
Lupita Nyong'o
Can we talk for a second about this look from 2014? It's spectacular by itself but the combination of the outstanding design by Prada and Lupita's natural glow is what makes it so iconic. We stan!
Lady Gaga
The 2019 Gala was all about self-expression and no one does self-expression better than Lady Gaga. The singer transformed her look 4 times and blew our mind each time. The artwork was designed by Brandon Maxwell and included backup dancers and a retro cellphone. Enough said.
Billy Porter
First of all - let's have a big round of applause to the 2019 Gala participants who killed it. Now, if anyone can outdo Lady Gaga, it's Billy Porter. Billy's look was fabulous, glamorous and unforgettable. The wings, the head piece, the men - everything was standing-ovation worthy.
Alexa Chung
In 2010 the Met Gala theme was "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity" and no one channeled it better than Alexa Chung in Philip Lim suit. Classic, Powerful and unapologetic. Just the way we like it.
Rihanna
Only one person can appear twice in this list - Rihanna. Her 2017 look was confusing, colorful and captivating. The singer wore a Comme des Garçons dress, which was also the theme of the Gala.
