Dortmund improve considerably
2014/15 - 17 games = 15 points
2015/16 - 5 games = 15 points
BVB are on fire with a 100% record. Head coach Tuchel has won every competitive game he’s been in charge of since taking over from Jurgen Klopp and it’s practically impossible to wipe the smile off Dortmund fans’ faces as they sit pretty at the top of the league. But who can blame them after a disastrous start to the last campaign?
Mathieu Valbuena, a traitor?
Valbuena’s return to the Vélodrome with the wrong Olympique (O. Lyonnaise) shirt was seen as an act of treason by the Marseille fans. The eight seasons he spent in Marseille turned him into a legend for the club and he had a honoured farewell when he left last year to join Dynamo Moscow. The weekend’s match against Lyon was held up for 23 minutes after fans threw bottles aimed at the player.
Valencia boss on the brink
‘Nuno veté ya’. Fans were calling for Nuno’s resignation this weekend in Mestalla after the team that invested €135m this summer only managed goalless draw with Betis at home, another step back for a team who are supposed to fight for the title this season. Problems in front of goal don’t help. Valencia have only scored twice in four matches, amounting to a single victory and three draws.
Martial and De Gea boost United
‘Who is Martial?’, Wayne Rooney apparently asked when Manchester United decided to pay a ridiculous amount of money for the 19 year old French player. But after just a few games Rooney sure knows who Martial is now. At the same time, the Red Devils' fans must be happy with how David De Gea’s proposed transfer to Real Madrid concluded with a contract extension at Old Trafford. We saw some really nice saves this weekend from the Spaniard.
