Asher is a bit older than the teens in the story and solidly grounded in his faith.  His warm, outgoing personality and real concern for people make him an ideal friend and brother. He’s preparing to become a pastor and has a deep desire to make a difference in the lives of the people around him.

Brett is usually laid-back and easygoing, but he can also be tenacious and competitive.  He’ll go through the motions of whatever is expected, mostly so he can get back to doing what he’s passionate about--which is usually sports.  If he finds a good reason to care about something, though, he won’t let anyone hold him back.

DaVonte prefers blending in to being noticed, but he’s willing to do the right thing even if it puts him in the spotlight. Despite his rough background, he has a soft heart; he’s a loyal friend and stands up for those who can’t defend themselves. DaVonte doesn’t know much about God, but what he does know, he puts into practice.

DaVonte’s favorite memory is the circus his mama took him to when he was five years old.  The stands were so crowded that he got to sit in her lap the whole night.

Levi is a hardworking and sincere Christian, but he's not a people person.  In fact, he’d rather do just about anything than speak in front of a crowd--and there’s a lot of other stuff he’d rather not do.  The stress of people’s expectations can overwhelm him sometimes, but he’s truly trying to follow the Lord in spite of his insecurities.

Levi’s favorite song is “A Mighty Fortress”.  He actually has a great singing voice, although very few people have ever heard it.

Natalie has a good heart, but she tends to rely a little too much on her friends’ opinions. Part of this stems from the fact that she’s grown up deferring to Peyton in everything. She wants to do the right thing, but she has a hard time stepping out unless someone else is there to back her up.

If Natalie could choose one place to visit, it would be the Italian Alps.  When she was younger, she liked to pretend she was a mountain shepherd girl, but she preferred black hair over blond.

Peyton is a born leader with a lot of natural ability. Unfortunately, he tends to channel his talents into manipulating others for his own benefit.  He’s well-liked by most of his community, but his good behavior is only skin-deep, and he’s more concerned with what others think of him than with doing what’s right.

Peyton’s two favorite possessions are his grandfather’s classic convertible and an antique bugle.  He drives the car but has never tried to play the bugle--or any other instrument.
