• Butch Cassidy (1866 – 1908) was American outlaw train robber and bank robber, and the leader of a gang known as the "Wild Bunch"
• He partnered with Harry Longabaugh, nicknamed the “Sundance Kid in the early 1900s.
• They escaped to South America to elude police.
• He was charming and well-liked and it’s believed he never killed anyone.
• He and Harry were the basis for the famous movie, “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”

• Eugène François Vidocq (1775 – 1857) was a French outlaw, thief, and detective whose life and tales inspired many writers.
• He came from a wealthy family but his youth was turbulent. He was described as “fearless, rowdy and cunning, very talented, but also very lazy”.
• He worked with entertainers and puppeteers as a young man and was fired once for flirting with his boss’s wife.
• He created a private investigation agency which was actually the prototype of modern detective agencies.

• Spartacus (111 – 71 BCE) was a gladiator who was one of the leaders in a major slave uprising against the Roman Republic.
• He, along with other gladiators, plotted an escape.
• Spartacus was a Thracian. The Thracians were a group of Indo-European tribe.
• Spartacus was captured and trained at a gladiatorial school. He was a heavyweight gladiator and carried a large shield and sword.
