What did you do this weekend? Did you have tea with your best friend? Is your best friend a 300lb bear called Stepan? No, you say!?

And you probably don't live in Russia.

Svetlana and Yruiy adopted Stepan as a cub; he was found abandoned and alone in a forest by hunters. He was in very bad condition.

Now he just likes to cuddle..

They had planned to release him back into the wild, but as you can see, Stepan took to being a house bear pretty quickly.

Imagine when this guy shows up at your front door!

Stepan is completely domesticated, something incredibly rare for bears.

Seriously don't try this at home. It's a terrible, terrible idea. Except in this one instance. This single one.

Stepan is a pretty lovable bear. He likes to potter around the house, watering plants and giving hugs.

Look at that face!

Yuriy and Svetlana report that he's an incredibly sociable bear!

The ONLY sociable bear IN THE WORLD.

He's 23 years old now. A very old, wise, bear. Who likes books.

And even though he weighs 300lbs, and stands at over 7ft tall,he's gentle as a puppy.

Though the family dog may remain a little nervy...

Above all, Stepan is a gentleman. Who never forgets who saved him, and appreciates every moment he has.
