5 Bridges MUCH SCARIER to Drive Than the OBX Oregon Inlet Bridge
I was shocked to learn how many people believe it's scary driving over the Herbert C. Bonner Bridge.. I personally find it one of the most picturesque bits of driving in the country, so I invite you to feast your eyes on truly terrifying feats of human engineering!

Colorado's Royal Gorge Bridge
Take your bridge hatin' out west!
Colorado's Royal Gorge Bridge is the epitome of a "Oh sweet heavens please don't fall off" kind of structure. It's tall, long, and stretches hundreds of feet overtop of nothing you'd want to land on.
It's apparently a hot spot for #selfies and bungee jumping, but I'm sure many of you reading this would probably prefer the view from your computer screen.
France's Millau Viaduct
Driving over clouds... pshhh.. no big deal.
The Millau Viaduct is the World's tallest bridge (to the points up top) and one of the highest off the ground, towering nearly 1,000 feet above the sweeping landscape below... where everything.. looks.. like... ants.
It was opened in 2004 to help create a direct transport route between Paris and the Mediterranean coast. Ever since it's been a medium-blend of terrifying and picturesque, depending on your tolerance for sharing the passing lane with airplanes.
Japan’s Eshima Ohashi Bridge
Bridges shouldn't resemble slices of bacon...
The Eshima Ohashi Bridge in Japan looks more like a rollercoaster launch ramp than something you'd ever want to drive a car on.
This windy & narrow treat was built to allow large fishing vessels to pass underneath and has a mind blowing 6.1% gradient on one end, a 5.1% gradient on the other.
If you're looking for a gas pedal down, fingers crossed, up real high then down real low bridge driving experience... well, I think I found your fix!
China's Sidu River Bridge
Mmmmm, I'm feeling queasy already!
Remember those rickety wooden bridges held up by rope over a vast gorge in the movies? Well, this is the real deal in real life! The Sidu River Bridge is the tallest in the world... just over 1,600 feet from the road to the narrow, rocky river below.
Feeling intimidated? China boasts right around 95% of the world's tallest bridges so it would be a great, therapeutic vacation if you need to get over your fear of heights!
Norway's Storseisundet Bridge
youtube embed goes here!
....and we have a WINNER!
It's all fun and scenic games until the Atlantic Ocean jumps the curb and right into your windshield!
Known locally as the "Drunk Bridge", Norway's Storseisundet Bridge takes the crown as the bridge you could legitimately be worried about making it across safely (although quite beautiful on calm weathered days).
Now stop hating good ol' Bonner Bridge!
