Swedish inventor Simone Giertz started out in school for physics but ended up as the "queen of shitty robots." Her YouTube channel, where she posts videos about the makings of her terrible machines and their gif-worthy tests have garnered hundreds of thousands of subscribers and fans and millions of views...
According to Giertz, a "shitty robot" is a machine "that solves a problem that doesn't exist, or solves a problem that does exist, but in a bad way." She became passionate about creating and sharing her shitty robots online for one very important reason, though.
Electronics are getting more and more accessible now - you don't have to be an engineer to start building things. I really want to spur [on] that democratisation of technology.
