TJ Maxx recently instructed its stores to stop featuring Ivanka Trump's merchandise in a memo which stated:
Effective immediately, please remove all Ivanka Trump merchandise from features and mix into the [normal clothing racks]. All Ivanka Trump signs should be discarded.

When asked why the signs were thrown away, TJ Maxx representative Erica Tower would not explain precisely why the stores were instructed to get rid of the signs, instead giving this statement:
At this time, we continue to offer this line of merchandise. From time to time, we communicate with our stores about how to handle merchandise. The communication we sent instructed stores to mix this line of merchandise into our racks...

However, many now wonder whether TJ Maxx is on its way to following in the footsteps of Nordstrom, Belk, and Neiman Marcus, who all recently stopped selling Ivanka Trump's fashion line. Many also wonder whether this act is in protest of Donald Trump's policies. Trump himself tweeted in response to Nordstrom's removal of Ivanka Trump clothing, which the company claims was due to low sales, saying:
