Homer
Homer
You are Homer Simpson! Your youth work style can be summed up with two words: "Woohoo!" and "Do'h!"
A little bit like the apostle, Peter, you are often the first to try things and put new ideas out there - but sometimes put your foot in it in the process!
You make a lot of mess and enjoy mayhem. On your day off you can often be found in a hammock or on the sofa.
You're hugely likeable and a lot of fun to be around. The kids love you, know that a day with you will end with adventure, and they also know that when it really counts your heart will be in the right place too!
A couple of things you should work on are probably listening better to other people, and maybe thinking a little more before you act.
Marge
Marge
You are Marge Simpson, and definitely the mom of the youth work world!
You're the first to arrive and the last to leave. You have a terrific servants heart and are a ninja expert with planning and catering for ravenous young people!
The kids know that they can always trust you for care and good advice - even if you are sometimes a little bit boring.
Games, adventure and creative activities are probably not your forte. But when push comes to shove, you can create an amazing results under enormous pressure.
You possibly need to work on lightening up just a little bit, and letting your big blue hair down on more occasions. God's grace right?
Bart
Bart
You are Bart Simpson - youth work’s bad boy!
You are constantly flouting the rules, misplacing the risk assessments, and inventing downright dangerous group activities and games!
You're the one that every group of young people want on their team, but sometimes your ideas are so outrageous that even they hesitate.
You love getting stuck in with talks and up front activities, but you somehow mysteriously vanish when there's cleanup to be done.
Although admin and responsibility isn't your forte (you’re often late to your own meetings), you have an adorable hidden innocence about you, and when it comes down to it you're very faithful and dependable. And the kids know it!
Lisa
Lisa
You are Lisa Simpson.
You're a bit of a goody two shoes, and - let's be honest - a little bit of a know it all too!
You love training and books and you keep up with blogs and all the latest youth work theory. You have coloured bookmarks in your bible, and a shelf of perfectly organised resources.
You are incredibly dependable, faithful and teachable - if not just tad arrogant. You are loyal and always on time. You care greatly about young people, especially those who are marginalised and from sub-cultures.
You often get frustrated by the extrovert-driven activities in youth clubs, but come alive in small-group Bible studies.
You are a great motivator when you find a cause worth believing in - and you are probably running this year's mission trip!
The downside to being the Lisa youth worker is you easily feel just a little bit stressed and more than a little bit under-appreciated.
The best thing you can do for yourself is look for the good in things that you wouldn't choose - and understand how they might help others. Oh, and you should give yourself a break from time to time too - you're doing great!
Maggie
Maggie
You are Maggie Simpson.
You might be new to the youth work world and still feel a bit fresh and vulnerable. However you are no pushover, and your tenacity more than makes up for your experience.
You are able to do far more than people realise, and - even though you sometimes blend into the background - you are fundamental to the young people's work that you do.
Young people sometimes see you more as a friend then a leader, yet you never fail to surprise them! You're also the most glamorous in this family of youth workers!
Don't panic about being new! Stay steady, stay determined, and stay faithful to God and, you'll learn quickly and grow massively!
Santa's Little Helper
Santa's Little Helper
You are Santa's Little helper.
In the youth work world it's possible that you're a little bit confused, and just perhaps didn't understand the questions.
Maybe you've been hanging out for a while - running, fetching and making appropriate noises - without really finding your place.
It's possible the youth group just adopted you one day and haven't let you leave!
However you feel, you are valuable - the kids like you and they would miss you if you weren't there!
It's possible that you need to be comfortable with the simple roles that you have been given, and just focus on loving those kids and loving God.
Or maybe you’re just adorable, cute but totally out of your depth! Have a snack, chat with your leaders, and make sure that you're being utilised properly! After all a dog is not just for Christmas.
Grandpa
Grandpa
You are Grandpa Simpson - the grandaddy of the youth work world!
You've been working with young people for so long that you can't remember when you first began! You've seen all kinds of changes and many different people over the years.
You have a simple and solid approach. You don't go in for a lot of new ideas and you think that going online is something to do hanging washing.
It's your simple approach though, that has made you a rock to your youth group. You're generous with your knowledge and humble about your experience.
Even though you sometimes you get lost and confused, and even though sometimes a rowdy young lad runs off with your teeth, your faithful and dependable presence has done more good then you will ever know!
Sometimes you might need to understand that times have changed and new approaches are needed to speak relevantly to young people. This doesn't mean though, that your perspective is not actually extremely important.
Thanks grandpa!
