How’s Your Passover Hebrew Vocabulary?

Pesach-פֶּסַח Some say that this stands for “the mouth speaks” - פֶּה סַח-pay sach referring to the telling of the Passover story.

seder -סדר Seder means “order”. The meal follows a particular order to highlight the Passover story.

Haggadah-הַגָּדָה The Haggadah tells the story of the redemption of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. The Haggadah is traditionally read in Hebrew and a person’s mother tongue.

4 cups of wine called arba kosot-ארבע כוסות Each cup represents four Hebrew expressions of redemption described in the Bible, Exodus 6:7.
