It is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition about Fiji ever assembled
Fiji: Art & Life in the Pacific takes the visitor on a journey through the art and cultural history of Fiji since the late 18th century. Over 270 works of art are on display including stunning sculptures, textiles, ceramics, and ivory and shell regalia.
A highlight is a specially commissioned eight metre-long double hulled sailing canoe or drua
The Exhibition includes a newly commissioned traditional Fijian sailing canoe, which was built in Fiji and shipped over 9,000 miles to be included in the exhibition.
The canoe also took part in The Queen's 90th Birthday Celebration at Windsor Castle in May 2016.

In her visit The Queen will see the whale tooth, or tabua, that was presented to Her Majesty on her first visit to Fiji in 1953 (as showcased in this video, courtesy of Archives New Zealand, The Department of Internal Affairs - Te Tari Taiwhenua).
HM The Queen will be visiting
The Queen will be greeted by Vice-Chancellor Prof David Richardson and the Fijian High Commissioner, Mr Jitoko Tikolevu, before being given a tour of the exhibition.
During the visit The Queen will also meet the exhibition’s curators Prof Steven Hooper, Dr Karen Jacobs and Ms Katrina Talei Igglesden from the Sainsbury Research Unit (SRU), Sainsbury Centre staff, representatives of UEA Student’s Union, and Fijian students currently enrolled at the University.

UEA students can become Student members and see all of the exhibitions for free and get a 10% discount in the Gallery Shop. It’s free and all you need to do is ask at gallery reception for more information. UEA staff members can see the exhibition for just £6, saving 50% on the full price.
