In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, The Dursleys are informed that once Harry turns seventeen, he will be in great danger and eventually, the Dursleys will succumb to the same threat. As the Dursleys are leaving their home with two members of the Order, Dudley asks why Harry isn't going with them. Dudley then tells Harry that he never thought of him as a waste of space and even thanked him for saving his life. When he finally leaves, he shakes Harry's hand and Aunt Petunia gives Harry a look as if she had wanted to say something to him as well.

This book came out not too long after Dumbledore had died and had contained crucial information about Dumbledore that many people did not know of. Gellert Grindelwald, one of Dumbledore's close friends, shared information with Skeeter. The book explains that Dumbledore had graduated Hogwarts with many honors and had planned to go on a grand tour of Europe with his friend, Elphias Doge, which had been canceled after he had found out about the death of his mother. The death of Kendra Dumbledore sets up a majority of Albus's life where he had to care after his family members and watch most of them tragically die right before his eyes.

The Marauders Map was created by James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew during their time at Hogwarts. Lupin was bitten by a werewolf as a child and the others eventually became animaguses so that he wasn't alone when he changed into a werewolf. Harry argued that one should never leave their children unless they have to and had hoped for the result of this fight to be that Lupin would return to Tonks. As Harry wished, Lupin returned to his wife and Teddy was born after this fight had occurred. After Lupin and Tonks died in the battle, Harry spoke to Lupin through the resurrection stone. The two of them resolved their issues from the fight and Lupin explained that he had wanted to create a happy life for his son even if he did not get the chance to know him. Harry was named Teddy's godfather and although he was raised by his grandmother, Andromeda, Harry spent a great amount of time with him.

After the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry, Ron, and Hermione went to the Headmaster's office. The gargoyle let them in without a password and the three of them were greeted with a round of applause by the portraits. Harry informed the portrait of Dumbledore that he had dropped the Resurrection Stone somewhere in the Forbidden Forest and that he wasn't planning on looking for it in which Dumbledore agreed. Harry decided he was happier with his older wand rather than the Elder Wand and decided to use The Elder Wand to repair the broken halves of his own wand. He then decided to place the Elder wand back into Dumbledore's tomb and when he died a natural death, the wand would die with it.
